Amino Acids
|
AMINO ACIDS
are the "building Blocks" of the
body. Besides building cells and
repairing tissue, they form
antibodies to combat invading
bacteria & viruses; they are part of
the enzyme & hormonal system; they
build nucleoproteins (RNA & DNA);
they carry oxygen throughout the
body and participate in muscle
activity. When protein is broken
down by digestion the result is 22
known amino acids. Eight are
essential (cannot be manufactured by
the body) the rest are non-essential
( can be manufactured by the body
with proper nutrition). |
Chronic Pain Management
|
"I'm
desperate. This
pain is too much."
"I've
done all the things
I know to do and I
can't stand it
anymore."
"This pain has
stolen my life." |
How many times
have you uttered
any of the above
comments or
similar ones?
|
Endocrine System
|
The nervous system sends
electrical messages to
control and coordinate
the body. The endocrine
system has a similar
job, but uses chemicals
to “communicate”. These
chemicals are known as
hormones. |
Immune System
|
The immune system is
a complex of
organs--highly
specialized cells
and even a
circulatory system
separate from blood
vessels--all of
which work together
to clear infection
from the body. The
organs of the immune
system, positioned
throughout the body,
are called lymphoid
organs. Lymphatic
vessels and lymph
nodes are the parts
of the special
circulatory system
that carries lymph,
a transparent fluid
containing white
blood cells, chiefly
lymphocytes |
Minerals
|
As important as
vitamins are, they can do nothing
for you without minerals. Vitamins
cannot be assimilated without the
aid of minerals. And though the body
can manufacture a few vitamins, it
cannot manufacture a single mineral.
All tissues and internal fluids of
our body contain varying quantities
of minerals. Minerals are
constituents of the bones, teeth,
soft tissue, muscle, blood, and
nerve cells. They are vital to
overall mental and physical
well-being. |

Self Affirmation
|
How do you think of yourself? Do
you see yourself as a disabled
person or a person with a
disability? There is a vast
difference. Are you defined by your
illness? Or are you defined as the
person you've always been with an
illness. |
Vitamins
|
All
natural vitamins are organic food
substances found only in living things,
that is, plants and animals. With few
exceptions the body cannot manufacture
or synthesize vitamins. They must be
supplied in the diet or in dietary
supplements. Vitamins are essential to
the normal functioning of our bodies.
They are necessary for our growth,
vitality, and general well-being.

What
is Psychoneuroimmunology
|
Psychoneuroimmunology is the emerging
science of the interaction between the
nervous,
endocrine, and
immune systems and yes, thought.
Basically, what the field of PNI tells
us is that every part of our immune
system is connected to the brain some
way, whether it be through the nervous
system or the endocrine system.
